In the "Merchants' Market" we provide links for all local business (that have a web link of some sort) whereby you can check for special deals, sales promotions, and coupons.
We're starting out with the Washington Park subdivision. Eventually we'll try to get all of Edison covered. That will take a while, so please be patient.

Customer Review Sites
There are a number of handy customer reviews sites available that are worth a look.
Yelp.com - I like this site. Customers write the reviews. I've already got the link set up for Edison, NJ. Just type in your address in the box on the right, and enter a search term on the left side. As you type in the term you'll see category matches appearing below in a dropdown menu. Or don't enter a search term at all and just click "Search" for your address. All the customer reviews for businesses in the area will appear. Very well designed site--good functionality.
InsiderPages.com - Not nearly as good as Yelp. But if you're in search of more reviews, you might find some on this site. The link I've provided here is set up to show all categories of business in Edison, NJ.
The problem with this site is that the default geographical search radius is way too large. You're asking about businesses in Edison. Instead it's giving businesses in a gazillion different towns, many of them quite far away.
Chowhound.com - This is a pretty cool site where customers write restaurant reviews. I have the link here set up for the Washington Park area. But you can search anywhere you like by typing in a different city or address.
